Cape Point Bait is seeking an Operations Supervisor for its manufacturing and distribution center located in Beaufort, NC.
The company is an established and successful 25+ year old bait processing and wholesale business.
The business is a light manufacturing/retail stocking wholesale business engaged in production, warehousing, and has a fleet of refrigerated delivery trucks.
This key role is responsible for day-to-day leadership of production, logistics, and warehouse management activities.
The position includes oversight of implementing the daily production plan, receiving trucks, loading trucks, organizing freezer and warehouse, performing light maintenance, and supervising a small team of 5 – 7 team members.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong people leadership background, expertise in warehouse and production management, can identify and smoothly implement process improvements, has good general maintenance and technical understanding, and is highly organized.
This position is truly a “hands-on” leadership role and requires an engaged, enthusiastic dependable person capable of managing all warehouse and production activities.
*KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES*
The core function and scope of the Operations Supervisor is to:
* Manage and direct production, warehouse, maintenance, and safety related activities
* Plan warehouse, freezer and production floor layout for maximum efficiency
* Manage, train and develop the warehouse and production team
* Comply with laws, regulations and OHSA requirements to ensure safety and security of team members and facility
* Monitor and maintain operations goals
* Develop, write, and implement required policies and procedures including all warehouse activities, production processes, and equipment management
* Continuously look for improvements to operations
* Collaborate with sales team for new products and routes as needed
*SELECTION CRITERIA*
* At least 5 years of proven leadership experience in warehouse, logistics, or production leader environment
* Knowledge and proficiency in inventory systems and MS Office software
* Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
* Project management experience showing ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
* Experience in OSHA workplace safety
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality system documentation practices
* Prior Six Sigma and 5S training desirable
* Strong communication skills
* Strong people leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
* Physically able to lift 50lbs
* Previous gas and electric forklift experience highly desirable
* Education background in Production Management, Logistics and Supply Chain is a plus
* Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:*
Must be able to motivate by example and be an integral part of the floor operations.
Requires physical strength to lift and maneuver 50 pounds and can stand, stoop and climb on a regular basis.
Must be able to withstand a cold environment periodically.
Normal levels of eyesight and hearing after correction, and color vision is required.
The ability to touch, feel, manipulate fingers and limbs to operate various processing and material handling equipment is necessary.
The ability to smell is required.
