*About this Opportunity* Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a *Water Resource Supervisor* to join our Public Utilities Water Treatment team.
The Water Resource Supervisor is responsible for maintaining raw water facilities and pipelines of the Lower Cape Fear Water and Sewer Authority (LCFWSA) at the Kings Bluff Raw Water Facilities, and other Brunswick County assets.
Working under limited supervision, the Water Resource Supervisor will perform technical work planning, supervising, and participating in the work of a crew engaged in the operation, repair, replacement, and installation of raw water lines, pumping station equipment, water storage, SCADA systems, meter vaults, generators, and related appurtenances.
Work includes: * Leading and initiating activities and functions as assigned, including directing operators, mechanics, instrumentation techs, and electricians.
* Attaining bids and quotes for necessary services.
* Developing work plans to follow O&M schedules and unscheduled maintenance activities as required.
* Performing preventative maintenance and operation of pumping equipment, control valves, back-flow assemblies, and metering facilities.
* Evaluating employee performance, recommending disciplinary actions, and participating in recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding new employees.
* Preparing reports, maintaining records, and keeping PM software up to date related to the raw water transmission and pumping systems.
If you are a water resource professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to exercise independent judgement and demonstrate initiative in all phases of work, we’d love to talk to you! The Water Resource Supervisor reports directly to the Water Resources Manager.
*Education and Experience* High school diploma (or equivalent) AND five (5) years of experience having responsibility for pumping systems, generators, and large pipelines; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* Direct experience with medium (416v) electrical systems, large backup diesel power generation systems, and in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems related to water utility infrastructure is required.
* A valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver license is required.
* Bachelor degree in engineering or the natural sciences is preferred.
* NC-AWWA Maintenance Technologist or Generator Operations Certification is desirable.
* Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is preferred.
* Supervisory experience highly desirable.
*Physical Requirements* Must be able to perform the basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must possess visual acuity necessary to read maps and diagrams, to operate a vehicle, to operate a computer terminal, and to read and prepare reports including the analysis of data and figures.
Must be physically able to operate personal computer, related office equipment, and motor vehicle.
Physical demands are for medium work.
