Advanced Level Machinist

Position Title *Machinist* Department Assignment: Machine Shop Reporting To: Manufacturing Manager *Machinist Prologue:* Urethane Innovators, Inc.
, 403 Industrial Drive, New Bern, NC 28562, is looking for a skilled Machinist to produce precision parts using CNC Lathes, CNC Mills and manual equipment.
The Machinist must needs manual dexterity, have excellent coordination and put safety and accuracy at the forefront of all tasks.
Required are an eye for detail and knowledge of applied mathematics [Algebra & Trig.
] in order to optimize processes and procedures.
The ability to understand blueprints, sketches and computer-aided design (CAD) are paramount.
Production of precision metal parts with close tolerances requires excellent attention to minute details while maintaining high levels of production throughput.
Proficiency in CAD software is highly important.
Gibbs-Cam experience is a plus.
*CNC Operator Prologue:* If a you are a beginning Operator, or seeking the skills of a a learned Machinist, we will start as an Apprentice CNC Operator who reports to the Machinist Department Head.
Various skill levels and experiences will be considered.
Pay is commensurate with your experience and knowledge.
In time, you will be challenged to learn all aspects referred to in the Machinist Job Description.
*Summary of Positions Available:* Operate CNC Lathes, CNC Mills and Manual Machines to generate tight tolerance metal and urethane parts.
Selects and runs programs on Mills and Machining Centers.
Read and interpret company documents and technical drawings.
Performs advanced complex machining techniques.
Verifies conformity using hand held measuring devices.

) ‡ Follows all Safety Guideline ‡ Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ‡ Maintain workplace organization and cleanliness to avoid product contamination, maintain safety and be visually pleasing at all times ‡ Product quality begins with you while meeting quality objectives; exercise attention to detail ‡ Can read and understand Sales Orders and Technical Drawings ‡ Understands the importance of holding tolerances, do precision work, and act as a second party verification when necessary ‡ Understands process flow and UI’s designated areas for parts ‡ Inspect drawing and compare to Sales Order before performing work ‡ Proper handling of machined parts ‡ Proper hand tool use ‡ Setting up machinery utilizing proper speed and feed, tool selection, tool wear, machine selection, program selection, etc.
‡ Ability to run CNC Lathes, CNC Mills and Manual machine properly & with accurate results ‡ Notify management when maintenance is required ‡ Setting up and utilizing proper machining procedures ‡ Properly uses measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications ‡ Generates part machining programs in Gibbs CAM ‡ Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output ‡ Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job ‡ Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping ‡ Select appropriate machines (e.
g.
lathes) and position or load material for a job ‡ Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.
‡ Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues ‡ Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects ‡ Keep records of approved and defective units or final products ‡ Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages *Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:* * Works independently and also as a team member.

* Check that all equipment produced works correctly *Physical and Mental Requirements:* * Must be able to switch from task to task during the work day and work cooperatively with all staff.
* Exposure to noise (wear ear plugs) * Prolonged Standing * Good communicate skills when dealing with others; succinctly gather and exchange information.
* Must be able to bend, lift, stoop and reach in order to perform all necessary job duties.
* Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs as needed.
* Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.
) * Ability to use precision tools (e.
g.
calipers) to take accurate measurements * Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material * Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals * Good at math with analytical abilities * Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items * High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset * Prior experience with machine tools and industrial machines.
* Excellent knowledge of material properties.
* A high school qualification or equivalent.
* An apprenticeship involving mechanical operations would be advantageous.
* Professional knowledge of safety protocols.

* Completes tasks in a timely manner and/or as allotted.

* Graduate Community College - Machinist Concentration * 1 to 3 years OJT working as Machinist * 5 years of Machinist experience (Preferred) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $19.
